How I can assist parents:
Helping parents comprehend their child’s diagnosis.
Addressing any concerns or worries they may have.
Sharing both positive and negative stories, providing realistic perspectives for parents regarding their child.
Offering information about schools, organizations, and therapists.
Assisting parents in understanding their child’s Individual Learning Plan (ILP) from school and determining whether the set goals are truly beneficial for the child’s well-being.
Adopting a holistic approach towards the child, considering their strengths, interests, worries, and stressors. Discussing with parents how to leverage their child’s strengths to overcome barriers at school or home.
Lastly, being a supportive listener, providing a safe space where parents can openly express their feelings without judgment.
